Kristine Diehl

About the Artist

Kristine Diehl (b. 1977) took her first Atelier class at age 15 and continued attending night and summer classes through high school and college. While at the University of Minnesota she participated in two exchange programs in Austria and was able to study paintings of the Masters across Europe. Upon completing her B.A. with a double major in Art History and German Linguistics, Kristine began her studies with Cyd Wicker and Dale Redpath at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Arts in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During her studies she received numerous scholarships and commissions, gained recognition in magazines, and had her still lifes featured in a book. As a graduate and former instructor of The Atelier, her work hangs in private collections around the world and can be seen at www.kdiehl.com.

2005

• Kristine Diehl interviewed for an article on oil-primed linen canvas in the December 2005 issue of American Artist magazine.
• Forbes Galleries exhibition: The Next Generation of Realists. Four of Diehl's paintings are in this group show in New York City. This is her first gallery opening.

2004

• Martini Still Life filmed in a scene for the movie “Factotum.”
• One of 11 young artists sent to London by American Artist magazine.
• One of 100 finalists in the Art Renewal Center 2003 International Salon competition.
• Portrait of Jan Smith published in the Fourth Quarter 2003 Newsletter of the Portrait Society of America.

2003

• Instructor at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
• Self Portrait published in the Third Quarter 2003 Newsletter of the Portrait Society of America.
• Finalist in the Portrait category of The Artist’s Magazine 2003 Art Competition.

1999

• Began full-time studies at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
• B.A. from the University of Minnesota in Art History and German Linguistics, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.

1997-1998

• Academic year studying art history and the German language at Karl-Franzens Universität in Graz, Austria.
• Traveled throughout Europe visiting museums and sights in Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Netherlands, Hungary, Czechoslovakia.

1994-1995

• Participated in ten-week exchange program, “German and Austrian studies in Graz, Austria.”
• Began study at the University of Minnesota, obtaining both university and high school credit for coursework completed.
• Studied drawing and painting at the Atelier LeSueur, Minnetonka, Minnesota.
